<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nDie Hauptbesch\u00e4ftigung und das Haupteinkommen des Dorfes ist die Landwirtschaft. Die Bewohner des Dorfes mussten nach Nedunkerni fahren, um ihren t\u00e4glichen Bedarf zu decken. An dem verh\u00e4ngnisvollen Tag des 17.07.1986 befanden sich viele Menschen in dem Bus, der Mullaithivu mit Nedunkerni verband. Der Bus geh\u00f6rte zu dem vom Staat betriebenen Busdienst. An diesem Tag wurde das Gebiet um Nedunkerni vom srilankischen Milit\u00e4r unter dem Kommando von General Kobbekaduwa abgeriegelt und durchsucht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die Absperrung und Durchsuchung wurde von einem Milit\u00e4rhubschrauber der srilankischen Luftwaffe unterst\u00fctzt und gesch\u00fctzt. In dieser Situation konnten die Menschen aus Thanduvan im Bus nicht nach Nedunkerni weiterfahren. Der Busfahrer wendete den Bus und fuhr zur\u00fcck nach Mullaithivu. Der Milit\u00e4rhubschrauber folgte dem Bus und begann, den Bus zu beschie\u00dfen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Einen Kilometer von der Thanduvan-Schule entfernt, in Richtung Mullaithivu, wurde eine Rakete auf den Bus abgefeuert. 17 Personen im Bus, darunter der Busfahrer, wurden get\u00f6tet. Weitere 13 Personen im Bus wurden verletzt. Verf\u00fcgbare Namen der Opfer: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Massacres on Eelamtamils and forced evacuation of Tamil villages commenced from 1948. Human rights organizations investigated that massacre and rejected the explanation given by the Srilankan army. Eelamtamils were massacred in Mullaitivu district by the police, the army, navy and the armed Sinhala thugs before and after the Kent and Dollar farm massacre. Thanduvan is situated on the Mullaithivu-Vavuniya main road, 4 Kms from Nedunkerni, driving towards Mullaithivu. Thanduvan village is part of the Oddisuddan Assistant Government Agent division in the Mullaithivu district. The main occupation and income of the village is agriculture. People of the village had to travel to Nedunkerni to buy their regular necessities. On the fatal day of 17.07.1986, many people were in the bus connecting Mullaithivu to Nedunkerni. The bus belonged to the state operated bus service. On that day the Nedunkerni area was cordoned off and searched by the Sri Lankan military under the command of Gen Kobbekaduwa. Supporting and protecting the cordon and search was a military helicopter belonging to the Sri Lankan Air Force. In this situation, the Thanduvan people in the bus were unable to proceed to Nedunkerni. The bus driver turned back the bus and started to drive back to Mullaithivu. The military helicopter followed the bus and started to fire at the bus. One Km from the Thanduvan school in the direction of Mullaithivu, a rocket was fired at the bus. 17 people in the bus, including the bus driver were killed.
