Das Massaker von Chettikulam war ein Massaker an den Eelamtamilen, die in dem Dorf Chettikulam an der Grenze zwischen den Distrikten Vavuniya und Mannar lebten. Es war eines der ersten einer Reihe von Massakern, die von den srilankischen Streitkr\u00e4ften w\u00e4hrend des v\u00f6lkerm\u00f6rderischen Krieges des Landes ver\u00fcbt wurden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chettikulam ist ein wundersch\u00f6nes Dorf, in dem Bauern und Regierungsangestellte leben. Am 2. Dezember 1984 verh\u00e4ngte das srilankische Milit\u00e4r eine Ausgangssperre \u00fcber Chettikulam. Die srilankische Armee drang fr\u00fchmorgens gegen 5.30 Uhr in das Dorf ein. Die meisten Menschen im Dorf schliefen noch und wussten nichts von ihrem Schicksal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bewaffnete Soldaten drangen in die H\u00e4user ein und brachten alle m\u00e4nnlichen Bewohner des Dorfes gewaltsam weg, um sie zu \u201euntersuchen\u201c. Mindestens 52 M\u00e4nner wurden in Milit\u00e4rfahrzeugen in die benachbarte Stadt Mathavachchi im Bezirk Anuradhapuram gebracht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seitdem gibt es keine Informationen mehr \u00fcber diese 52 M\u00e4nner. Die Bewohner des Dorfes Chettikulam sagen, dass die 52 M\u00e4nner in ein singhalesisches Dorf in Mathavachchi gebracht und dort mit scharfen Messern aufgeschlitzt und mit schweren Fahrzeugen \u00fcberfahren wurden. Die Dorfbewohner von Chettikulam waren daraufhin voller Angst und flohen aus ihrem eigenen Dorf nach Vanni, Madhu und Tamilnadu. Die Dorfbewohner von Chettikulam haben diese 52 unschuldigen Eelamtamilen, die von der SL-Armee massakriert wurden, nie vergessen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chettikulam massacre was a massacre of \u00a0Eelamtamils who were living in the village of Chettikulam, located on the border of the Vavuniya and Mannar districts. It was among the first of the series of massacres carried out by the Sri Lankan armed forces during the country’s genocidal war. Chettikulam is a beautiful village was filled with farmers, and government employees. On Dec 2nd, 1984, the Sri Lankan military imposed a curfew throughout Chettikulam. The Sri Lankan Army invaded this village in the early morning at around 5.30 a.m. Most of the people in the village were still asleep, not knowing their fate. Armed personnel entered the houses and forcibly removed all the males of the village for ‘inquiries.\u2019 At least 52 men were taken in military vehicles to the adjacent town of Mathavachchi in Anuradhapuram District. There has been no information about these 52 men since. The people of the Chettikulam village are saying that the 52 men were taken to a Sinhala village in Mathavachchi, and there they were sliced with sharp knives and heavy vehicles were run over them. As a result, the Chettikulam villagers were filled with fear and fled from their own village to Vanni, Madhu, and Tamilnadu. Chettikulam villagers never forgot about these 52 innocent \u00a0Eelamtamils who were massacred by the SL army.
